Being a smart business means innovating by exploring new ways to operate more sustainably and helping our customers, business partners and employees embrace Love Every Drop.

We have made a start and are doing great things as a business to secure future water supply for our region, but we know there’s a long way to go yet.

Love Every Drop is about us embracing the challenges we face and transforming our business into a water company for the 21st century.

Celebrate our achievements and our future

Here’s just a few of the fantastic things we’re already doing:

• More than six million people rely on us to provide a service that’s essential to their everyday lives. Our goal is for all customers to be very satisfied with our service. Last year, 66% of those who have been in contact with us said they were; today it is 84% and climbing.
• We have one of the lowest levels of leakage in the industry. Our leakage rate is 30% below the UK industry average, and in 2011/12 we beat our leakage target by 6%.
• We’re encouraging innovation through our business and supply chain, and making it easier for others to tell us about new products and services.
• Our number one priority is to keep our people safe. Last year, our Accident Frequency Rate for employees and key contractors fell to 0.28 per 100,000 hours worked - our best ever performance on reducing accidents. 
• We share our knowledge about water saving (as well as energy and carbon) with businesses and help them develop their own water strategies. This service promotes sustainable water use and helps secure water resources for future generations. Bedford Borough Council was the first to sign up in March 2012 and committed to cut water use by 20% by 2015. This is just the start. We want all business customers to have a water strategy in place.
• We have more than 240 Love Every Drop Champions around the business encouraging and inspiring colleagues to support our campaigns with their energy, ideas and enthusiasm.
