Not all bursts are spectacular. A hole the size of a small nail in a water supply pipe can lose 140,000 litres of water a day, or over 5m litres a year. A burst this small could cost you over £8,000* per year. This leak may never show above ground so you may have one or more that you don’t even know about.
Whether using the latest techniques such as gas injection and correlation, or relying on the traditional techniques such as surface sounding, finding leaks is a specialised business. At Anglian Water, our water supply networks have some of the lowest levels of leakage in the world. We want to support our customers to be as efficient as possible by repairing unwanted leaks, controlling site costs and preventing unnecessary waste. To do this Anglian Water provides a specialist leakage find and fix service that helps to identify and then repair leaks on customer sites.
If you suspect that you might have a leak or leaks on your premises Anglian Water can help. After discussing the situation with you, we can get a leak detection team to your site at a time to suit your business needs. They will find and isolate the burst and affect a repair as quickly, and with as little disturbance, as possible. Our service includes excavation, repair and reinstatement of the affected area.
A standard charge of £437 applies for a day of leakage detection work. Once any leaks have been located, repair costs will be calculated and no work is carried out without your authorisation so there is no unexpected bill at the end.
*A typical industrial cost for water and sewerage – water at 0.06p per litre and sewerage at 0.1p per litre.
