The information below is a brief overview of our charges; if you require further information please view our Charges policy.
Where a customer receives both water and wastewater services, but neither is classed as Industrial, the chosen tariff applies to all services. Fixed charges are payable whether or not water is taken during the year.
The volume of water discharged to the sewer will be assessed at 90 per cent of the water taken, except where a claim for a smaller percentage can be demonstrated to us. Measured sewerage charges may also be increased if and when water obtained from another source is discharged to the sewer.
The measured sewerage and trade effluent tariffs are a combined wastewater tariff. For a single fixed charge, a customer is charged on all the tariffs within that option, whether they are used or not.
Charges will be calculated separately for each supply with an annual fixed charge payable for each service, except in the case of the Industrial tariffs, where premises have two or more separate supplies.
Customers who use between 10,000 - 24,999 cubic metres of water a year will be charged on the Industrial 10 potable tariff unless they meet the necessary criteria and opt for the Industrial 10 non-potable tariff. Customers who use between 25,000 - 49,999 cubic metres of water a year will be charged on the Industrial 25 potable tariff unless they meet the necessary criteria and opt for the Industrial 25 non-potable tariff. Customers who use more than 50,000 cubic metres of water a year will be charged on the Industrial potable tariff unless they meet the necessary criteria and opt for one of the alternative tariffs, namely:
- Industrial non-potable
- Industrial interruptible
- Industrial plus
There are three elements to industrial bills:
- An annual fixed charge
- A volumetric charge per cubic metre of water supplied (either potable or non-potable)
- A maximum daily demand charge per cubic metre of peak daily demand (either potable or non-potable). See below for more details.
The maximum daily demand charge will be based on the peak day requirement for the coming year, as provided by the customer. The charges will be fixed for the charging year based on the peak requirement and subject to an agreement that the customer will not take any water in excess of the peak day requirement at any time during the charging year without written consent from Anglian Water.
If the customer's peak day requirement is exceeded in any 24-hour period during the charging year, the peak requirement will be adjusted upwards accordingly and the revised peak requirement shall then apply for a minimum of 12 months subject to any further revision.
However, the customer will not be entitled to take water in excess of the previously agreed peak day requirement unless agreed in writing by Anglian Water.
VAT
Measured and unmeasured water charges for customers whose Standard Industrial Classification falls within categories 1-5 of the 1980 Standard Industrial Classification will be subject to VAT at the standard rate. For all other customers, measured and unmeasured water charges will be zero-rated. All measured and unmeasured sewerage charges will be zero-rated for VAT purposes, as will trade effluent charges (where they apply).
Surface water drainage charges
Customers who believe their premises are not connected to the sewerage system for surface water drainage may be entitled to pay a lower charge on application and provision of suitable evidence. Call our specialist surface water tariff enquiry and application line on freephone 0800 169 3271 for more details. Our charges scheme for water and sewerage services covers the period from 1 April to 31 March.
Why charges change
Water supply and sewerage service charges have increased to pay for the investment programme needed to meet the rigorous standards set by UK and European legislation. We have made significant progress, but much still remains to be done. To finance this investment we have needed to increase charges. If you would like further information on our investment programme or to learn more about how we put your money to work, please call Customer Services on 08457 91 91 55 or see our Strategic Direction Statement.
