At the bottom of all search results pages, you’ll find our job alerts box. Here you can sign up for emails which will automatically alert you to any new vacancy on our website which matches the criteria you have entered in the search.
If you see a role you like or are qualified for, you can apply online. Click on apply and if you haven’t already registered, you’ll be prompted to do so. From there, simply follow the on screen instructions.
On some vacancies, we may ask some screening questions before you are able to formally apply, to ensure you are eligible or qualified to apply. We use an application form for all roles and this must be fully completed before the system will accept your application. Please provide as much detail as possible and make sure you complete every section of the application form, including the application questions and education information. The more information you provide, the easier it will be for us to assess your suitability for a position.
We’ll email you initially to confirm you’re registration. You’ll also need to verify your email address by clicking on a link we’ll send you via a separate email. We’ll then keep you updated on the progress of your application via the email address you have verified.
Selection
The selection process will vary depending on the role you choose to apply for. We use a range selection tools and methods which are appropriate to the role and offer the clearest results to enable us to select effectively. We’ll keep you informed about the process you’ll be going through either via email or in some cases through phone contact with you.
Interviews
In most cases, selection processes begin with a face to face interview with the Line Manager of the role being recruited for. We use interviews to learn more about your skills and experience whilst also offering you a chance to understand the role. Again, according to the role that you apply for, selection stages may differ with more senior roles often requiring a number of interview stages before any decision is made.
Online testing and questionnaires
Where appropriate, we may send you ability tests or personality questionnaires to complete via the internet at home. Although we tend to utilise these instruments at an early stage of the recruitment process, they can be deployed at any stage of the selection process.
Assessment centres
For some roles including all trainee and graduate selection processes, we use assessment centres. Assessment centres tend to be a one day event made up of a number of different selection methods. This includes testing, interviews, role plays, presentations and team exercises. If the role you are applying for utilises an assessment centre, it will be mentioned in the advertising and you’ll receive full details of what to expect before you attend. Ordinarily, roles using assessment centres only have one stage although we may send some online tests or questionnaires to you to complete before attending.
Making a decision and feedback
We’ll do our best to make a decision as soon as possible at each stage of the selection process.
Initial Application screening:
It’s quite normal for initial application screening to take a week or more and considerably longer for trainee or graduate campaigns. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer feedback to candidates de-selected at the screening stage of the selection process.
The common reasons for being unsuccessful at this stage include, but are not limited to:
• You may not have the minimum education/experience required to perform the role
• Substantial information (education/experience/answers) was not disclosed on the application form
• Insufficient evidence has been provided in answers to application questions.
You will be notified by email or by letter if you have been unsuccessful at the initial screening stage.
Interview or assessment centre stages:
For those selected for an interview stage or assessment centre, we’ll do our best to confirm the results with you as soon as possible following the event. Assessment centres are often run concurrently and as such it is quite normal to experience a delay of a week or more in hearing whether you have been successful or not.
In all cases, you will be notified of the outcome via email, letter or on some occasions via phone. We’ll aim to provide interview or assessment feedback to those who request it as soon after the event as possible.
Congratulations, you did it!
If you are successful through the selection process, we’ll speak with you to confirm this and to outline our offer to you. We’ll confirm everything in writing to you and send a pack of information, much of which will need to be completed and returned to us promptly as this ensures we can have everything ready and in place (including pay!) for when you arrive. An offer of employment is subject to satisfactory references, identity verification, driving licence check, medical clearance and proof of eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
Soon after you are offered a position you’ll receive a couple of emails from us asking to confirm references. You’ll also receive an email from Experian© asking you to complete a short online form which is used to confirm your identity. In your offer pack, you’ll find a medical questionnaire which must be returned to our Occupational Health team alongside further information, including a new starter return slip, which helps us to get you all set up on our HR and IT systems. Included with your contract of employment will be a mandate to complete detailing your driving licence details which you return to Intelligent Data Systems in a pre-paid envelope.
