Local community volunteering through our Give me five scheme

Anglian Water's Give me five logo

With over 600 registered employee volunteers on our community scheme Give me five, staff offer their expertise matched with up to 30 hours of work time to support local community projects.

Anglian Water employees gave local communities 14,912 hours of their own time in the year ending March 2009 matching this with work time of 2,325 hours.

Community activities ranged from volunteering with local scouts, through to being a school governor, environmental support through our RiverCare programme to supporting victims of crime.

Our community volunteers can really make a difference to their local community, as well as gain development skills which can be easily transferred to their day job.

As a business, we take our responsibility to support local communities seriously to educate them about climate change and ensure key messages such as water saving, reaches our customers - volunteering is a great way to get these messages across.

Our charitable partners gain real ’in kind’ benefit from such activities, allowing them to make their budget go that bit further.

Volunteer activities include:

RiverCare

In partnership with the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, Anglian Water employees support local communities to participate/set up active volunteer groups to address environmental issues, by adopting stretches of river and undertaking 'clean up' activities.
