Volunteer giving water efficiency advice at the East of England Show

As one of the largest employers in the region our people are a major resource. Acting as ambassadors for the company in a number of different ways, these individuals contribute to the community through our employee volunteering scheme.

We support and promote the well being of communities by behaving in a socially responsible manner. Our sustainable contribution brings benefits to customers, employees, investors, business partners and the wider community.

We do this by:

  1. Providing a stimulating and hands-on experience of our industry, linked to the National Curriculum, through our education programme delivered at our dedicated centres
  2. Raising community awareness of the importance of being waterwise and sewerwise through open days at our local sites and community presentations
  3. Educating customers on the benefits of water for health and providing advice on keeping water healthy within their own homes
  4. Supporting local communities through our employee volunteering scheme
  5. Involvement in charitable giving through the company's Give As You Earn scheme and support of the Flag Fen Archaeological Trust and Anglian Water's Trust Fund for vulnerable customers
  6. Recognising the needs of vulnerable customers through the WaterCare register, offering assistance with payment of bills through our various tariffs and raising awareness of personal security with our Bogus Caller programme
  7. Ensuring, where possible, our operations are undertaken with the minimum of disruption to the communities in which we are working
  8. Ensuring best practice of our operations through regular participation in external benchmarking activities and stakeholder research
  9. Working in partnership with regional and national bodies to add to the sustainability of the local environment, for example RiverCare.
  10. Offering local communities access and benefits of our recreational facilities
  11. Recycling of our equipment and materials to community projects.

Our projects fall into two groups:
