Under Section 185 of the Water Industry Act 1991 any person with an interest in land or in adjacent land may give notice to Anglian Water to alter or remove its existing assets from this land.
Building is not permitted near or over our water infrastructure and therefore the water main will need to be diverted away from your intended development.
Anglian Water insists on undertaking such diversions and therefore you will need to complete an application for the diversion of an Anglian Water asset form which can be downloaded using the link below.
We need to ensure that the works are completed as efficiently as possible without affecting our existing customers who are already connected to the water distribution network.
On receipt of your application, Anglian Water will design and estimate the cost of the works. The applicant will pay the full amount of the estimated costs. On completion of the works the costs will be recalculated using the actual costs incurred, and the applicant will be billed for any additional costs or refunded if actual costs are less than estimated. The maximum design fee will be payable upon application for a water main diversion. This will be deducted from the scheme costs once the work has been completed.
