Reservoir levels

The shore line at Rutland Water in January

The November rainfall was only 45% of the long term average, which was the second consecutive month with below average rainfall. Over the last 12 months the rainfall has been 94% of the long term average, but October and November have seen a relatively dry start to the recharge season. Groundwater levels are mostly below normal. Rivers have responded to recent rainfall, but otherwise mostly showing below normal flows.

Overall our reservoirs are 82% full and are operating within expected ranges, but we ask our customers to remain 'Waterwise' whatever the weather.

The graphs below show monthly rainfall for the region compared to average, and the volumes held in our main storage reservoirs up to the end of November.

The Environment Agency also monitors the water resource situation and compiles a monthly report, available from their website.
