Lots of good fish have been coming to the net this week at Pitsford Water and it would seem that they are ‘on the fry’.

Fish 339 (season 10,875) Returns 98(2,405) Rod average 3.5(4.5)

Anglers are enjoying good sport at Pitsford. G Foulkes had a good boat session, returning six fish including a Brown estimated at 5lb. The Simpson Party, on a holiday package, reported that they had returned a Brown around the 6lb mark. George Hackett caught his obligatory Brown whilst fishing the Small Half. George’s fish weighed 6lb 1oz. Alex Pearce had his best Brown from Pitsford with a nice fish of 4lb 8oz and caught another over 3lb in his four fish limit.

Competition news
On Tuesday 10 October Pitsford Water hosted the annual match between Anglian Water staff and the Environment Agency. Fished to an eight fish kill limit, 43 anglers caught 142 fish for a rod average of 3.3. Top rod was Grafham Ranger Mark Haycock. Mark recorded 8 fish for 18lb 5oz. Top rod for the EA was Darren Trumper with 8 fish for 17lb 12oz. The best fish was a Brown of 4lb 5oz taken by Dave Rowe of Anglian Water.

The best areas for bank anglers are still the Gravels, Cliffs and Rigbys. Boat anglers are starting to find fish off the Causeway, Rigbys and through the Narrows.

Sunk lines and fry patterns are now working well, as are tubes and snakes.

Best Rainbow                  Estimated at 6lb, caught and safely returned by Grant Gibson.

Best Brown                      6lb 1oz taken by George Hackett.

Mid week boat winner      John Clarke of Winwick.
