Kayak anglers strive for Pitsford's Grand Slam Prize - three species - Pike, Perch and Trout in one weekend.

Fish 146 (season 7,682) Returns 43(1,685) Rod average 3.4 (4.6)

Another mixed bag weather wise this week saw the fishing bring mixed results. The rod average for the week is 3.4 with some good catches when conditions were favourable. Martin Gale and John Middleton had a good day on the boat bringing 21 fish to the net. Bob Collins continues to catch well from the bank. Bob managed two Brown trout estimated at 5-6lb in his 17 fish total during three visits this week.

2,000 fish were stocked this week taking the total stocked for the season so far to 24,000.

The best boat areas are the main basin and dam with fish in the open water and feeding up in the surface. Washing line tactics with midge tip or slow intermediate lines with booby/FAB on the point and red holographic diawls accounted for plenty of fish.

Bank anglers are continuing to catch good fish off the Gravels and Sermans bank, fishing shrimp patterns around the weed. Dry daddies have also worked for these fish.

Pitsford Water hosted the annual kayak ‘Grand Slam’ last weekend. The aim was for each angler to catch a Pike, a Perch and a trout with all fish measured and returned. The match was organised by Dane Wood of the Ocean Kayak UK fishing team and was fished over two days. 42 anglers competed and seven achieved the ‘Grand Slam’ of three species.
The winner was Mark Radcliffe with a total length of 183 cm. Second place went to Neil Kane with 178cm and Ian Pickering was third with 171cm. The biggest Pike was caught by Mark Radcliffe at 100cm. The best Perch was 47cm and caught by James Dobie. Mike McGuire caught the best trout at 68cm.
