Fishing at Alton Water Park

Fishing at Alton Water Park

Fishing is a great way to relax. Set in the Suffolk countryside, Alton Water offers an attractive location to spend the day coarse fishing.

Anglers appreciate our internationally recognised secluded coarse fishing lakes. The return of the roach population has improved sport enormously at Alton Water and we are now starting to see the benefits to the pike angler. Huge shoals of large bream are still the most popular quarry.

You can fish any of our waters as a season ticket holder or a day ticket angler and if you have children, they can accompany you and fish for free within the rules and limits of the permit.

Day tickets to fish are available on the bank or from the Visitors Centre at the Stutton car park.

Fishing at Ardleigh Reservoir

This is another popular spot in Essex and is run by the Ardleigh Reservoir Committee. There are three lakes providing carp, bream roach, rudd, tench, pike and perch fishing.

Permits can be bought from the Fishing Lodge or, if it not open, from our self-service kiosk which is open 24 hours a day. Buying a permit enables anglers to fish from dawn until dusk. Night fishing is only available to season permit holders

For the pike fisherman there are two rowing boats available for hire on two days a week, giving access to the 120 acres which provides fantastic lure fishing during the summer months. There is a close season for pike fishing from 1 March to 30 April.
