The finalists for the Responsible Business Awards 2017 have been announced today. Anglian Water is a finalist for the most prestigious – Responsible Business of the Year – as well as a finalist in the Environmental Leadership category.

The awards recognise the contribution of companies that put social and environmental concerns at the heart of their strategy.

Nearly 250 companies entered the awards, which are run annually by Business in the Community, the UK charity. The entries were considered by 250 independent assessors and judges from the business community, who picked 48 finalists.

Andy Brown, Anglian Water’s Head of Sustainability said: “We’re really proud to be finalists, which in itself is a ringing endorsement of Anglian Water’s commitment to sustainability and embedding it in the culture of our entire business and supply chain.

“Anglian Water is focussed on responding to the twin challenges affecting our region – that of a growing population and a changing climate. Our response is Love Every Drop. All our employees, partners and many customers have helped make this possible, by putting water at the heart of a new way of living.

“Anglian Water is planning ahead for a future with more neighbours and fewer raindrops, and we want to thank everyone who has helped on this journey so far, perhaps by taking a shorter shower, installing a water butt, turning off the tap while brushing their teeth, or teaching their children and grandchildren the importance of this precious resource. We have our fingers crossed for the final award, but we are already delighted to be recognised as finalists in such prestigious categories.”
