Local residents and businesses are invited to come and see plans for a new £4.5 million water treatment works due to be constructed near to Mattishall, Norfolk.

Anglian Water is holding a drop-in session at The Enterprise Suite, Southgreen Park, Mattishall on Wednesday 11th June between 17:30 and 20:30.

A planning application has been submitted for the new facility on land adjacent to the current site. Work is expected to begin in the summer and be completed by spring 2015, pending planning approval.

Antony Innes, from Anglian Water, said: “Parts of the treatment works in Mattishall have been there since the 1940s and while the site has been regularly refurbished, more work is now needed to ensure we can continue to serve the local area with clean, drinking water for many years to come.

“The construction of a brand new treatment works, using a similar design to the original, is the most cost effective way of making sure this is the case and that water supplies are resilient for the future.

“As with any construction work we know there will be some disruption, which is why we’ve written to local customers and are holding the drop-in session so people have the opportunity to speak to us face-to-face about what to expect and ask any questions they may have about the scheme.”
