Below is a list of the organisations that regulate the water industry:

How we treat you as a customer and the prices we charge for our services are defined and monitored by the Water Services Regulation Authority (WSRA) or Ofwat as it’s more commonly known. Ofwat sets prices at the beginning of a five-year cycle called Asset Management Plan (AMP) periods.and its water charges are based upon submissions from companies detailing how much it will cost to deliver their business plans.

Each year, every water company sends Ofwat a detailed breakdown of its performance in a document called the June Return. This is then used to monitor and compare companies' performances.

The Consumer Council for Water

Set up to represent the interests of water consumers across England and Wales, the Council provides independent advice and support to households and businesses.

Drinking Water Inspectorate

This Government agency ensures the drinking water we supply to you is acceptable.

Environment Agency

This body controls the amount of water we take from the environment and monitors the quality of the water we return.
