At Anglian Water, we’ve nominated WaterAid as our chosen charity and so do not generally give donations to other charities or bodies.

WaterAid

When a community gets clean water for the first time, it creates a powerful ripple, saving lives and improving people’s health, education and livelihoods. That’s the water effect. 

Today, one in nine people around the world don’t have clean water close to home. This is a deadly crisis, killing another child every two minutes.  It shouldn’t be normal. 

Without clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, people can’t stay healthy. Children are frequently sick and miss school. And parents are too ill, or busy caring for their families, to work.

Making clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene part of normal everyday life for everyone is not just a dream. It is achievable. 

With these three simple things, mothers can give birth more safely. Children have the opportunity to go to school and grow into healthy adults. And parents can work to support themselves and their families.  

We make a far bigger impact than we could by acting alone. Between us, we have the commitment, experience, resourcefulness and connections to change millions more lives – until everyone everywhere has what so many of us take for granted. Together we can do it.  

To really unlock people’s lives, we know that decent toilets and good hygiene are every bit as important as having clean water.   

Without all three, people can’t live dignified, healthy lives. With all three, they can break free from poverty, unleash their potential and change their lives for good.

How you can help

As our customer, you can also support the valuable work of WaterAid. We help raise awareness of this charity via fundraising leaflets which we send out with your water bill. Since we started sharing WaterAid information with you in 1992:

• 22,981 of you have signed up to support WaterAid
• you’ve collectively raised over £18 million (including Gift Aid) to support projects around the world.

WaterAid has a speaker network of trained volunteers who give free talks across the UK. Their passionate volunteer Speakers bring WaterAid's work to life, inspiring people across the UK to take action and help reach everyone, everywhere with clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.
