Work will begin on a £230,000 project to replace 600 metres of pipeline in Retford this week.

The scheme by Anglian Water is scheduled to begin on 24th March, and will replace a water main which has previously been subject to problems affecting homes in the area.

The pipeline will run along parts of Bridgegate (for approximately 50 metres from Hallcroft Road), Amcott Way (from Bridgegate to Morrisons supermarket entrance), part of Moorgate and the full length of Churchgate.

The project is due for completion in June, using a number of construction techniques to help complete the work as quickly as possible, with the minimum disruption to customers.

Satnam Kaur from Anglian Water said: “A project of this scale will inevitably cause some disruption to residents in the area and we’re sorry for the impact this will cause. However, we hope customers will understand the importance of the scheme and the benefits it will bring.

“We will be doing all we can to keep any inconvenience to a minimum. This includes working at night and weekends where appropriate. We are also using innovative technology to reduce possible water loss to customers.”

To ensure the work is carried out quickly and safely, it will be necessary to close part of Bridgegate. This will be closed Eastbound on the weekend of 26-27th April and on Saturday 29th June. There will be a short diversion in place along Hospital Road and Rectory Road during the closures.
