Anglian Water begins partnership with Marie Curie in time for Great Daffodil Appeal

Anglian Water has this month launched a new partnership with leading UK charity, Marie Curie, to provide extra support and care for its customers.


Anglian’s customer service team will signpost Marie Curie’s Information and Support service for any customers they encounter that have been diagnosed with a terminal illness or have been recently bereaved. The water company is also wanting to ensure those who are affected by terminal illness and grief are aware of how they can get support through its Priority Services Register. 


Anglian’s Priority Services Register provides practical support in the event of an emergency. It’s completely free, and once signed up, customers can stay on it for as long as they like. There is a range of support available, from assisted meter readings (for those who find this difficult) and bills with accessible formatting, to bottled water provision during emergency incidents.


Customers will also be directed to Marie Curie’s Support Line, which provides practical or clinical information and emotional support for those that are living with or caring for someone with a terminal illness. Customers need not have used Marie Curie’s services before or be directly involved in a loved one’s care to make a call.


Beth Kennedy, Anglian Water’s Partnership Coordinator, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Marie Curie. We are incredibly passionate about supporting our customers and want to make sure as many as possible receive the help they need.


“It’s essential that all our customers have access to water and that we know who may need additional help should there be any interruptions to their supply. We hope by directing individuals to Marie Curie’s support services we’ll be able to make things a little easier for people going through a hard time.


“Our specially trained staff are here to help and guide individuals through the process. If you are recently bereaved and find yourself struggling, please tell us and we can see how we can help you.” 


Charlotte Jackson, Marie Curie Fundraising Manager for Central England, said: “For people living with terminal illness or those who are grieving, managing everyday tasks can be difficult. Our partnership with Anglian Water will ensure that people who need it are guided to our Information and Support services and its offer of extra support to people affected by terminal illness will help offer assurance to families at a difficult time. We are so pleased to be joining Anglian on this project in time for our biggest fundraising campaign, the Great Daffodil Appeal 2021, which runs across the month of March.”
