Anglian Water to begin water main installation in Scunthorpe

News

Anglian Water’s team of expert engineers are next week set to begin work to install 2.6km of new water mains pipe in Scunthorpe to support local growth, commencing on 19 April.

The work will see pipes laid to supply water to residents of new developments planned in the area, while maintaining current water pressures to existing customers, helping to keep taps flowing for years to come.

In order to reduce the length of the project, two site teams will be working simultaneously to install the pipe, reducing disruption for local road users, with work expected to be completed by the end of September 2021.

The majority of pipework will be installed in neighbouring fields to reduce traffic and noise disruption. However, to ensure the safety of both staff and local road users, traffic management will be in place on Normanby Road near the Cupola Way junction (19 April – 20 August), Winterton Road (19 April – 23 April) and Normanby Road near Scunthorpe Raceway (26 May – 20 July).

Anglian Water has assured teams will be following Public Health England advice on social distancing while at work and will be limiting direct contact with customers unless it’s an emergency.
