Engineers working to replace water main attached to a bridge

A complex project to replace a water main on the side of the main bridge in Brigg town centre has been completed today.

The £125,000 scheme by Anglian Water replaced the previous main which was showing signs of wear and tear after years of battering from the elements.

Antony Innes, from Anglian Water, said: “It’s not everyday we find ourselves replacing a water main attached to a bridge, and it did require some different techniques and lifting equipment to get the pipe in place.

“We hope we kept disruption for road users, pedestrians and local businesses to a minimum while we were carrying out the work. We’re pleased the new pipe is now in place, in operation, and in keeping with the colour scheme of the bridge.”

Access over the bridge is not back to normal.
