The final preparations are underway for the sixth annual Rutland Day 2013 taking place at Anglian Water’s picturesque water park this weekend (14 September). Yet again the event promises to be another fun filled family day out.

The free event takes place on the Empingham shore of Rutland Water, beginning at 10am.

This year highlights include live music, rock climbing, mini-golf for £1 per round and cooking demonstrations. Other activities include entertainment for children, a free bouncy castle, fairground and even hovercraft rides.

Rutland Radio’s Rob Persani will help host live music on stage throughout the day, including ‘Sounds of Simon’ and ‘Funk Soul Brother’.

The Rutland Food Festival will be returning for a forth time after its huge success in previous years. The live cookery demonstrations are always a crowd pleaser and this year these are being compered by Brian Baker from the Marquess of Exeter.

There will also be a mouth-watering range of local produce to taste and buy including meats, chesses, ciders and for those with a sweet tooth, cakes and pastries. There will also be a hog roast and licensed bar.

Antony Entwistle, Events and Marketing Manager for Anglian Water, said: “This really is a great, fun, family day out, and is something we are very proud to host each year. All the previous Rutland Days have been a terrific success, and we hope the crowds will help us make this year even better than the last.

“Hopefully the weather will be kind to us again and we can welcome visitors from all across the area and even some from further afield to the beautiful surroundings of Rutland to celebrate what the county has to offer.”

Entrance to the event is free, but there will be a parking charge of £5 per car.
