If you have a private water supply - generally taken from sources like wells, boreholes and sometimes rivers – your local authority and not us, has a responsibility to make sure you comply with the Private Water Supply Regulations.
However, if your private supply is backed-up with water from us, it’s our responsibility to make sure your plumbing conforms to the Water Fittings Regulations. These among other things, prevent your pipework and appliances contaminating the drinking water.
