A little something to help you use less water.
To help you and the whole of your community in Colchester use less water, we’ve partnered with Groundwork UK to offer you a free water home visit from one of their 'Green Doctors'.
A Green Doctor is a water-saving expert who'll come to your home to spot all the ways you can use less water. Each visit takes less than 1 hour and will get you some clever water-saving devices like water saving shower heads and help you spot any potential leaks, like a leaky loo. Your Green Doctor will also help you explore other ways we can help your home, like additional support via our Extra Care team.
The home visits are designed to help you to understand how you can use less water in the home, provide water saving devices and to help do a water audit, identifying any possible leaks. The team can also help explore other ways which we can support you through our Extra Care support package.
At Anglian Water, we’re committed to protecting our region’s water resources. Having a water saving home visit with a Green Doctor, not only helps you save water in your own home but also helps shape our future water saving plans – benefitting our environment, wildlife, and future generations.
Frequently asked questions
We’ve invited select households in Colchester who have had a smart meter for at least a year. Smart meters can help us understand how much water is being used across the region, as well as giving you more control over where you can save water and money.
You can take part in this trial if you’re the bill payer, whether you’re renting or a homeowner.
We’re looking to provide 100 home visits, so taking part is on a first-come, first-served basis.
You can book a Green Doctor home visit if you live in Colchester and have had a smart meter. You book via the Groundwork online booking form.
A member of the Groundwork team will arrange to visit your property and will provide up to 1 hour of water efficiency advice and may also provide water efficiency devices.
The Green Doctor project is currently running from April 2025 – July 2025.
At the initial appointment, Groundwork UK will collect your name, phone number and email address so they can contact you.
Groundwork UK will not be sharing any personal data with Anglian Water.
We’ll look after your monthly smart meter data. We’ll also look after your consent record and any survey or feedback information you might provide.
Groundwork UK will be responsible for the information needed for the Green Doctor support.
Groundwork UK will work on our behalf to get your consent to having a Green Doctor visit and use your information to contact you with surveys and to get your feedback.
Our Customer Privacy Notice has more information about the data we collect, what we use it for, and how we look after it. We also have a Smart Metering Privacy Notice which provides more information about smart metering data. You can find both privacy notices here.
Groundwork UK will also use the information you provide to keep in touch and provide follow up advice and ask for feedback from you for the duration of the project.
