Occupational health & safety management system

To ensure the health and safety of our employees and the safety of the public, Anglian Water has successfully implemented a company-wide occupational health and safety management system that is externally assessed for compliance against the international occupational health and safety assessment series specification OHSAS18001:2007.

The system covers all activites undertaken by Anglian Water and is regularly assessed by an independent third party accredited certification body - Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) and demonstrates our commitment to reducing the exposure of our employees and all other parties to occupational health and safety risks associated with our activities. In addition the system provides a consistent and proven management approach to our health and safety risks, both present and future, and enables assurance of compliance with applicable health and safety legislation and regulation and of due diligence generally. The system is regularly updated to continually improve our occupational health and safety performance.

A key element of the new system is our health and safety policy which defines at the highest level Anglian Water’s commitment to occupational health & safety. Find out more about the Health and safety policy.

Water services quality management system

As part of Anglian Water, the Water Services business unit has an established Quality Management System (QMS) that is externally assessed by a third party for compliance with international management standard BS EN ISO 9001:2000.

Water Services has recently implemented a formal Environmental Management System (EMS). The EMS has been successfully integrated into our existing QMS.

Our current certification body is Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) which is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). The scope of system coverage is from 'source to tap' and covers all major processes including abstraction, treatment, storage and distribution in accordance with National Legislation, Regulation and other requirements.

Water Services is taking an integrated management approach to the construction and operation of its management systems including an integrated management system (IMS) policy. Find out more about the integrated management system policy.

Business continuity management system

To further protect vital water and wastewater services Anglian Water has established a Business Continuity Management System that is externally assessed and certificated by a third party for compliance with International standard ISO 22301:2012.

Our management system is not limited or restricted to just business continuity and covers all aspects of ‘business resilience’ including security, emergency preparedness, training and exercising, impact management and any other arrangements.

Our certification body is Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) which is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). They regularly assess us to ensure that we have sufficient resilience arrangements in place and that we can respond quickly to recover any critical activity that is interrupted and are fully prepared for emergency response or workplace recovery situations.
