Building over or near to a public sewer

If you are planning an extension to your property or would like to construct a new building, you will need to ensure that there are no public sewers within the vicinity of the proposed works.

This page explains what you need to know to ensure that your proposed works will not have a detrimental effect on the public sewerage system.

Stage 4 - Assess your proposals against Anglian Water's standard criteria (pdf, 0.16MB)

An Application will be required if you do not comply with Anglian Water's standard criteria.

Please note however that it is unlikely that Anglian Water will permit the building over of a public sewer larger than 225mm in diameter or any proposal to build over more than 6 metres of public sewer.
