Our Survey of Domestic Consumption project (SODCON) monitors the water use at over 2000 properties across the Anglian region. The information helps us forecast water demand more accurately.
How does it work?
We fit logging equipment to a meter at each property, usually outside in the garden or pavement, but they can also be fitted to internal meters.
The equipment that we use has a radio transmitter, so we can collect the data without having to get in to your property or disturb participating customers in any way.
We then compare the flow data, with information from participant questionnaires on:
- water use at the property.
- and other factors like weather conditions.
This helps us build up an accurate picture of domestic consumption in our region.
