Norwich lead programme

Tap

In January 2017, we will be starting work in the Crome, Eaton and Town Close areas of the Norwich, working through streets to replace old lead pipework.

This planned work replaces lead communication pipes, the section of the pipe which we are responsible for, which normally runs from the water main to the property boundary.

If you are affected by this work you will be notified in writing, approximately a month before we start. You can find out exactly where and when we plan to work in our street listing document below, but please note these dates may change as the work progresses.

Where and when we're planning to work

Whilst we are working in your road:

  • There may be some disruption as we will have to dig in roads and footpaths. Access to roads and driveways may be restricted at some times of the day.
  • We may need to turn your water off when it is time to connect up the new pipework, if this happens we will write to you 48 hours beforehand, in a separate letter.
  • If you are concerned about lead please check our lead page for ways to reduce lead in drinking water or call the Lead Advice Line 0345 070 3445 for information or to book a free lead test.
  • To find out about replacing your lead pipework, speak to our Connections team or call 0345 60 66 087.
  • Visit the WaterSafe website for information on approved plumbers and underground installers who can replace your lead pipework.

Customer Supply Pipe Contribution Scheme

Where we are replacing lead pipes, as part of our planned scheme, we are offering customers a £375 grant towards replacing their own lead pipework. For more information on this please read our leaflet.
