What you'll find at Alton Water

Set in 400 acres of beautiful countryside, Alton Water Park provides the perfect location for walks, cycle rides, wildlife spotting and family picnics.

The site offers a range of services including a cafe and visitor centre.  In Autumn 2014 plans were approved for a new caravan and campsite at Alton Water.  Once developed the caravan and campsite will be open from the beginning of March until the end of October.

Attractions and information
You can also read more about the new campsite at Alton Water Park.

What to do

Activities include an eight-mile rambling route and an eight-mile cross-country cycle track. Bikes are available to hire from the Visitor Centre.

Alton Water can also boast a wide array of water sports, including excellent sailing and windsurfing facilities. Fishing is also available, with bream and pike the most popular quarry. Day and season permits are available from the visitor centre.

For those interested in wildlife, Alton Water Park hosts a variety of interesting waterfowl, especially in winter. New conservation zones and bird hides have been established to increase biodiversity with the help of local conservation volunteers.

Parking

The Stutton car park at Alton Water Park is close to all the attractions and facilities. Car parking charges apply - annual car parking permits are also available and are valid for all Water Park car parks and can be purchased from the cafe. You can find more information around parking charges on our attractions and information page.

Car parking fees help us to maintain and improve the conservation and recreational facilities on our sites.

Access

There is a track for pedestrians and cyclists around the water which is eight miles long. It is hilly in places and during the winter can also be muddy. However, there are two alternatives routes which use country lanes and are clearly sign-posted. Walkers can extend the route by two miles using the track north of Lemons Hill Bridge. This route is not open cyclists.

Opening times

Alton Water Park is open every day of the year, except Christmas Day. Site closing times are advertised at the car park entrances, usually between 9am and dusk.
