Anglers will appreciate our internationally recognised trout waters and secluded coarse fishing lakes provided by Anglian Water.

Our 2012 guide will be published soon and circulated with the April edition of Trout Fisherman and Total Flyfisher.  It will be available from 9 March at our fishing lodges or e-mail: fishing@anglianwater.co.uk to request a copy. A download will be available soon. You can fish any of our waters as a season ticket holder or a day ticket angler, except for Hollowell reservoir (season ticket holders only). If you have children, they can accompany you and fish for free within the limits of the permit, although age restrictions apply to boat fishing for trout.

There are well stocked tackle shops at Rutland, Grafham and Pitsford Waters and Taverham Mill fishery and restaurant facilities at Rutland and Grafham fishing lodges.

Rutland Water and Grafham Water

Both regularly host national and international fly fishing competitions and you can witness the excitement of the catch weigh-in at the fishing lodge, usually around 6pm.

Even when competitions are taking place, the needs of the pleasure angler just wanting peace and quite out on the water are still met.

• Sixty five per cent of trout caught weigh in at two pounds and trout grow to fifteen pounds.
• Huge pike and zander are also caught.
• Fishing permits are available from the tackle shops. However , if the shop is shut, tickets are available from:
  • Vendor hut at the toilet block on Normanton car park, Rutland Water Park.
  • Vendor hut next to the Rockblok at Whitwell car park, Rutland Water Park.
  • Vendor hut at the warden's workshop in anglers car park, Grafham Water Park.

Pitsford Water

Pitsford Water offers clear water, prolific weed-beds, attractive setting and hard-fighting fish. The reputation of Pitsford Water for bank and boat fishing gets better every year. Surface feeding fish make for exciting early and late season bank fishing while the irregular shape of the reservoir with its numerous bays and points provide mile upon mile of accessible and productive water, making for interesting boat fishing throughout the year.

Fishing permits are available from the fishing lodge or the vendor hut in the lodge car park.

Ravensthorpe

Ravensthorpe is an 100-acre Victorian reservoir and is the oldest of our Northamptonshire reservoirs. It is situated in a sheltered valley well away from major roads. Anglers can enjoy trout fishing in peaceful surroundings from the bank, boat or float tube. The Victorian fishing lodge has a selection of popular flies and leaders for sale and facilities for a hot drink.

• Fishing permits are available from the fishing lodge.

Our coarse fisheries

Taverham Mill Fishery

Taverham Mill Fishery, the four lakes and adjacent River Wensum make Anglian Water's Taverham and Costessey complex a coarse anglers paradise.

Adjacent to the lake are several newer gravel pits at Costessey, which are stocked with carp. Costessey No.2 lake is also used for waterskiing during the summer.

This combination of peaceful natural surroundings and big fish of so many species make this fishery something special.

• Season, day and 24-hour fishing permits are available tackle shop on site.

Hollowell reservoir

This is set in the picturesque Northamptonshire countryside and holds specimen fish in a variety of species. Pike fishing at Hollowell is subject to a close season to protect the pike stocks. Fishing with dead sea baits is only allowed between 1st October and 28th February, whilst lure fishing continues throughout the year.

• Fishing at Hollowell is available to season ticket holders only and these are available from Pitsford Water tackle shop.

Alton Water

This is an attractive venue set in the Suffolk countryside. The return of the roach population has improved sport enormously and we are now starting to see the benefits to the pike angler. Huge shoals of large bream are still the most popular quarry.

• Day and season fishing permits are available from the cafe on Stutton car park.

Ardleigh reservoir

This is another popular spot in Suffolk, with three lakes providing carp, bream roach, rudd, tench, pike and perch fishing. For the pike fisherman there are three rowing boats available for hire, giving access to the 120 acres which provides fantastic lure fishing during the summer months. There is a close season for pike fishing from 1st March to 30th April.
