Anglian Water is investing £160,000 to future proof the water supply for customers in Biggleswade.
The scheme will see supplies in the area transferred from the current main on London Road to a larger water main following the same route. The project will begin next week (30 January), and run until May.
Antony Innes, from Anglian Water, said: “Over the next couple of months we will be working along London Road to transfer water supplies to a larger main.
“By doing this we can ensure the water supplies for customers are secure, and maintain supplies to the town as the population expands in coming years.
“Most people will not notice any difference, and their water supply should not be affected at all. However, it is possible that the work may temporarily result in lower than usual water pressure for some customers, but this should only last for a matter of hours while the work is being done. This is particularly the case for properties in the Baulk and Drove Road area. We will be doing the transfers during the night, though, so most people will not notice anything.”
In total, work will be taking place in eight different locations, covering almost 2 km of London Road, between Crab Lane and Dunton Lane.
“We understand that this work may cause some disruption to residents, which is why we wanted to let them know about this project,” said Antony.
“Traffic lights will be in place on London Road at various locations while we carry out this work to keep any disruption to a minimum.”
At no point during these works should customers find they have no water supply. If customers have any concerns about their water, they should always call Anglian Water on 08457 145 145
