A half million pound project, by Anglian Water, to protect homes in Anchor Lane, Ingoldmells, from flooding started this week.

The four month long project will see close to 100 metres of new sewer pipes installed to increase the capacity of the network in the area.

Antony Innes, from Anglian Water, said: “We understand how devastating any type of flooding is, this is why we’re regularly investing in projects like this to help protect homes and improve our network.

“Unfortunately, to install these new pipes we’re going to need to close part of Anchor Lane until February. We know this is disruptive to residents but hopefully they’ll understand what we doing and why.

“Customers living in this part of Anchor Lane have already been contacted about the work and how it’ll affect them. We’ll be trying to keep disruption to a minimum and make sure people will still be able to access their homes throughout the work.”

A diversion for through traffic will be in place and clearly signposted. Traffic will be diverted along Roman Bank, Sea Lane, Chappel Road and then re-joining Anchor Lane.
