Work to replace a water main in Ixworth will get underway next week.

Anglian Water promised to replace the main serving homes in Peddars Close after two bursts caused flooding to customers’ homes last year.

The project, which starts on 13th January and is due to take five weeks to complete, will significantly reduce the chance of leaks and interruptions to supply for residents in future.

Andrew Skelhorn, Network Manager for the area said: “We committed to replacing this water main late last year and have moved as quickly as possible to get the project underway because of how important it is to people living there.

“We will be doing all we can to keep inconvenience to a minimum while we’re carrying out the work. We do need to close a section of the footpath to install the new pipe and the nature of the work means there will inevitably be some disruption to residents, so we are sorry for that. However, we will be maintaining pedestrian access at all times and limiting work to weekdays so that the customers living there can still enjoy their weekends in peace.

“The water supply to properties in Peddars Close will be interrupted briefly when we swap their service over to the new pipe. This will make sure that their water is kept at the highest standard. We will write to customers well in advance of this happening with a thorough explanation and full details of when and how long their home will be affected.”
