Our APLUS approved contractors’ scheme closed on 1 June 2025. We're now directing contractors to the Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme (WIAPS). A nationally recognised scheme run by Water Regs UK which is already supported by 17 other water companies.

What's changing?

We were the only water company with its own approved plumber scheme. To keep things simple for both plumbers and customers, we’ve made the switch to WIAPS. This means we’ll be part of one consistent scheme, recognised nationally across the industry.

What do I need to do?

If you were registered with APLUS, your membership automatically ended on 1 June 2025. To continue being an approved plumber in our region, you can quickly and easily apply to WIAPS. Once registered, you’ll continue to appear on the WaterSafe register, helping customers find qualified plumbers and contractors in their area. Plumbers can join WIAPS for free but there is a charge for certain sectored contractors.

There are other schemes available if you’d prefer, although some may charge a fee. You can find a full list at WaterSafe Approved Contractor Schemes.

Remember you won’t be able to use the APLUS logo, submit notices under our scheme, or appear on the WaterSafe register unless you’ve joined another approved scheme after 1 June 2025.

Am I able to join WIAPS?

The application process should be simple. The WIAPS joining criteria is very similar to our scheme. Most plumbers who have joined APLUS in the last ten years will meet the WIAPS criteria. Some long-standing members may need to update their qualifications to register.
