The amount we charge for your water and sewerage services depends on whether you have a water meter or not. The price is reviewed each year.

Charges for customers without meters

If you don’t have a water meter, you are charged based on the Rateable Value (RV) of the property. This value was set back in March 1990 and is based on a number of different factors including the size of your home, the number of rooms and the amenities you have in your area.

Although RV’s are no longer set by councils, we still have to use the values fixed in 1990 or earlier as the basis for the charges we make.

You will also be charged a fixed charge designed to make sure every one gets the same charge for the service they receive.

Charges for customers with meters

If you have a water meter, we base your charges on the amount of water you use, plus a fixed charge.

Your sewerage charge is normally 90% of the water used as we allow 10% for activities like garden watering and car washing.

If you think that less than 90% of your water goes back to our sewer, please contact us.

Fixed charge

All bills include a fixed charge contributing to the costs of:
• Supplying water
• Collecting and treating dirty water (both foul and surface water drainage)

Charges for surface water drainage

The fixed charge for sewerage applies to all properties connected to the public sewers for foul and surface water. It’s quite easy to work out where and how much foul water enters the drains, but surface water run-off can be a little less obvious.
