Applications to Anglian Water Apprenticeship scheme now open

Anglian Water’s latest tranche of apprenticeship vacancies are now open for applications. The water company will be offering over 80 positions this year leading to exciting careers in a vital industry.

Anglian Water, which has a big requirement for science and engineering skills in its workforce, hired over 50 apprentices from the region last year into Operational, Maintenance, Engineering and Quantity surveying roles.

Holly Goodchild from Anglian Water said:

“Applying for an apprenticeship with Anglian Water is a great option for anyone considering their next move. An apprenticeship with us can last anywhere between 18 months and 4 years, depending on the type of role, and it’s a mixture of classroom and practical hands-on learning supporting the Anglian Water team, across the region. We’re recruiting now ready for our 2018 apprenticeships which will start in August and November this year."

Lewis Mills is on an electrical and mechanical engineering apprenticeship with Anglian Water, he said:

“I studied engineering in sixth form and when I was close to finishing my course I started looking for apprenticeships, I saw this one and applied- it was a great feeling when I was offered the place! There’s so much variety on this apprenticeship too - I’m moving round to see different parts of the business, and I’m being trained as dual skilled - in both electrical and mechanical engineering, which opens up my opportunities at the end of it. There’s a lot to take in but the support is great; from your team, your manager and your mentor - who I see every day."

Abbie Harper is an Apprentice Network Technician “I started my A-Levels which I did for a year but it was very academic and classroom based and I prefer to be outdoors! I realised if I was going to change my education, then was the time to do it. I also knew I wanted a longer term career- the apprenticeship with Anglian Water would train me up with relevant skills and offer me a job at the end of it. And I’ve just been offered a full time role with Anglian Water as a Network Technician, so I’m really thrilled.”

 

Holly Goodchild continued: “Apprentices like Lewis and Abby are such an important part of our business which is why we continue to invest lots in their training and development to help them gain valuable and practical skills as well as achieving a nationally recognised qualification.

 

Around a third of Anglian Water’s workforce will retire in the next decade and we want to recruit the budding engineers and technicians from the next generation and give them the right skills and experience to join our business.
