Anglian Water staff are today extending thanks to a local firm based in Suffolk for delivering an order of critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) ahead of schedule.
The 1000 new face shields were produced by Willow Design, based in Leiston, Suffolk and will go to help Anglian Water’s frontline operational staff, classified as key workers by the government, who are continuing to work throughout the region to keep taps flowing and toilets flushing as normal.
From fixing burst pipes to clearing blocked sewers, the company’s workforce is still in operation. The latest delivery of PPE will help keep Anglian Water’s public facing teams protected in instances where they must enter customer homes in the event of emergency. The new face shields provided by Willow Design will help keep staff and customers safe alongside ensuring that the Government’s advice on other PPE and social distancing is adhered to as well.
David Ward, Head of Water Networks at Anglian Water, said: “I’m extremely proud of the effort and commitment of the Anglian Water workforce across the region as they simply try to keep our networks running and our communities safe.
“We’re particularly thankful to Willow Design and other independent companies who are working hard to produce PPE for operational teams to ensure that they can continue to work safely.”
Willow Design, who traditionally specialise in the production of waterproof, protective sleeving for documents, have turned their hand to supplying businesses with protective face shields. Owner of the company, Sally-Ann Napier, has already made and distributed thousands of new PPE equipment to key workers across the East of England.
She said: “It’s been so important for us, as a business, to support the community during these testing times. We’re making all of the PPE we possibly can and ensuring it reaches the hands of those that need it most.”
