Recognition

Our work to improve the gender balance of our business has been recognised externally, where we have been named as one of the Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality 2023. 

The integration of six capitals into our value framework won the 2023 inaugural Copperleaf excellence in Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) award. 

The Water Industry Awards recognise best practice from the frontline of the UK water sector with a special focus on innovation and its applicability to the wider industry. Entries are rigorously assessed by an esteemed panel of industry experts, who are looking for evidence of tangible benefits – to customers, to the environment, and to companies themselves.  

As well as scooping the top prize of the night, we were also awarded:  
 • Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year  
• Ground breaker Award for our low water commissioning approach in its Strategic Pipeline Project  
• Partnership Project of the Year for the Beacon Project with WaterAid, and the Nepal Water Supply Corporation 

Our approach to health and safety was recognised with a prestigious RoSPA Gold Award for the seventh year in a row. We also received a RoSPA Fleet Safety Gold Medal for the fifth year in a row for managing occupational road risk, alongside a RoSPA Commended in the Safe@Work-Safe@Home Trophy. This commendation recognises how we have demonstrated innovation in promoting safety and protecting our employees in their lives outside of the workplace, in the home and in local communities. 

Our home-mover email campaign, which welcomes new customers when they move into the area, was recognised as an example of best practice, winning the ‘Most impactful campaign of the year by a B2C business’ award at the DotDigital ‘Dotties’. 

We have made positive changes across our organisation to improve the support we give disabled people, and we are proud to be a disability confident employer.  

Queen’s Award 2020: Sustainable Development

The way we do business, and the hard work of all our people has been recognised for a second time with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development.

Voted the water company number one for service for 2018/2019

Ranked the highest by the water industry regulator Ofwat, with an overall score of 90 out of 100. The industry average was 84.4.

The award recognises and celebrates outstanding achievement and innovation across the UK water industry.

Utility Week Award 2018: Utility of the Year

The award recognises the outstanding utility that sets a benchmark for others to aspire to.

Glassdoor 2018 Best Places to Work

Employer review website Glassdoor has revealed that Anglian Water has topped it’s annual best place to work table. After coming second to Google in the annual league table last year, the website, which uses online reviews by current and former staff, placed Anglian Water in the top spot for 2019.

International Water Association 2018: Gold Award for Innovation

After fierce competition of 160 entries from 45 countries, our Innovation Shop Window Project won Gold in the ‘Performance Improvement and Operational Solutions’ category.

International Water Association 2018: Silver Award

Our Integrated Leakage and Pressure Management solution took second place in the ‘Smart Systems and the Digital Water Economy’ field. 

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)

We received the prestigious Gold award, again, at RoSPA’s 2018 Health and Safety Awards. RoSPA receives entries from organisations around the world, recognising health and safety management performance, including leadership and workforce involvement.
