In February 2025 Anglian Water’s Board asked Ofwat to refer its PR24 Final Determination to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
The Board agreed that Ofwat’s Final Determination did not balance the overall risks, such as the underfunding for asset maintenance, which puts long-term investment and resilience at risk.
Four other companies, South East Water, Wessex Water, Southern Water and Northumbrian Water also referred their Final Determinations to the CMA. All case information can be found here.
Statement of Case
In March 2025 Anglian submitted its Statement of Case to the CMA. This set out the reasons for the referral and set out the changes Anglian Water wanted the CMA to make.
Other companies’ submissions, and Ofwat’s response can be found on the CMA website.
Anglian submitted a short reply to Ofwat’s Response to Disputing Companies’ Statements of Case in May 2025.
Provisional Determination
On 9 October the CMA published their provisional determinations. These were open for consultation until 6 November 2025.
Anglians’ response can be found here.
