Our work in Welney

From Monday 31 July 2023 until Friday 15 September we're working in Hundred Foot Bank, Welney to start the second phase of our work to replace 3.2km of mains and service pipes that supply water to properties in the area. This is vital work to make sure the water pipes in the area are in tip top condition for many years to come.

Latest information

We're pleased to say our construction work in Welney is now finished and we were able to get everything done ahead of schedule.

All that's left to do is some final checks with the local authority and Highways Agency to make sure everyone's happy with what we've done.

Thanks so much for your patience while we've been working in your community over the past few months.

How might the work affect you?

Local residents:

When we’re doing important work like this there is always likely to be some disruption for local residents, and we want to thank everyone in the local community for bearing with us while we work.

While we’ve aimed to reduce disruption to pedestrians and traffic as much as we can, our top priority always has to be the safety of our staff and the public. For this work we’ve closed Hundred Foot Bank for the duration of our work – you can see the diversion route below.

The diversion is clearly marked with temporary street signs so that vehicles can easily find their way around the road closure. Access has been maintained for properties, businesses and visitors to the Welney Wetland Centre, but all other traffic trying to get through will be prohibited.

Visitors to Welney Wetland Centre:

The Welney Wetland Centre is open as usual. Visitors will need to plan their route by following the diversion that’s in place. Just keep an eye out for the black and yellow signs on route which will guide you to the centre.

Because work like this involves a lot of people and machinery, the Wetland Centre have kindly allowed us to take over a lot of their car park while we’re working. To say thank you we’re offering to buy every visitor to the centre a cup of tea or standard coffee on us. Just mention Anglian Water at the café to get yours.
