The Government published today its long-awaited Water Sector Reform White Paper, setting out a proposed roadmap for the future of the sector.

The paper, the Government’s response to the Independent Water Commission’s Cunliffe Review, outlines the direction of reform across the sector and aims to tackle long-standing challenges, including infrastructure investment, environmental standards, resilience and customer outcomes.

This is an important milestone with far-reaching implications for our company and sector. We will now review the proposals in detail and assess what they mean in practice, ahead of further policy development and legislation later in 2026. Our focus remains on ensuring any reforms support the delivery of safe and affordable water services for our customers and communities while protecting the environment, in line with our purpose.
