When you receive a cost estimate from us, you'll see an application fee cost as part of the overall estimate for your project.

Why do we charge an application fee?
There are many activities we complete behind the scenes to ensure a smooth project journey.  Take a look below at some of the things we do to support your project through to completion.

Please note:  The application fee is a standalone charge applied to cover administrative and processing activities.  It's not a deposit and therefore does not contribute to nor is deducted from, any future connection charges.

Providing a clear point of contact
Each customer application is supported by our experienced design team, who coordinate technical input, respond to queries, and provide clear guidance throughout the design process. While you won’t have a single named design contact, your application will be managed by our specialist team members, working collaboratively to ensure accurate technical information, consistency, and a smooth progression from start to finish of the application journey. This team-based approach maintains continuity, reduces confusion, and helps prevent rework later in the journey.

Understanding the project and customer requirements
A site visit is included so we can understand real-world constraints, discuss requirements directly, and design a practical and safe solution that works for both parties.  While delivering the most cost-effective approach to completing the work.

Assessing network capability
We evaluate how the proposed connection interacts with the existing water network.  Considering current conditions, nearby developments, and future demand to prevent pressure or supply issues.

Reducing risk and avoiding costly on site changes
We identify potential risks early such as network constraints, construction issues, and clashes with existing utilities.  Helping reduce delays, abortive work, and unexpected costs.

Applying specialist technical expertise
Our design teams apply their vast technical knowledge of water networks, standards, and local conditions to produce tailored, compliant, and buildable designs suited to the complexity of off site works.

Assessing water demand where needed
Where required, hydraulic modelling and network checks confirm the connection will deliver suitable pressure and flow while meeting operational and safety requirements.

Designing with safety and compliance in mind
Safety is fundamental to everything we do. It's built in from the outset to protect our people, partners, customers, and the public. Each design is developed in line with CDM requirements and independently reviewed by an Assurance Designer before approval. This ensures risks are identified, reduced and properly managed from the outset.

Protecting the network and existing customers
Every project is unique and complex. We ensure network integrity, water quality, and continuity of supply for existing Anglian Water customers throughout the design process.
