Anglian Water's Urban Regeneration Programme will invest £160 million into Surface Water Management across the two coastal catchments.
Our aim is to deliver combined sewer overflow (CSO) spill and sewer flood reduction through nature-based, urban regeneration in Southend-on-Sea and Great Yarmouth.
Our focus will be the use of retrofit Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) to hold back surface water to reduce storm sewage spills and improve bathing water quality.
We'll also look to reduce the risk of sewer flooding to homes and businesses.
Through deployment of nature-based solutions, we want to deliver benefit to all our customers in these two catchments by enhancing biodiversity, supporting tourism and delivering the health and wellbeing benefits of green infrastructure and clean bathing waters.
We'll also work with the local communities and partners such as schools, social housing providers and businesses.
To facilitate this partnership approach, we'll seek match funding opportunities and work to ensure the local councils have the capability and support to help deliver this ambitious programme.
