This project is fundamentally needed to help improve water resilience for our communities, but it’s about more than laying a strategic pipeline. It’s about people and the community we serve.  Making sure families, schools, and businesses have reliable access to water, even as our region grows and faces new environmental challenges. It’s about listening to communities, minimising disruption, and creating a legacy of trust and collaboration.

Our community partnerships have already included outreach with rivercare groups, orchard planting, and book donations for schools and we’re continuing to build on that legacy.

 

Our investment will see new roles created to build this vital pipeline and by investing in local talent, we are helping to build a stronger, more resilient workforce for the future. More than 100 new roles have already been created for this strategic pipeline – with every job created and every skill learned contributes to the long-term prosperity of our region. 

 

We’re actively engaging with nearby schools to provide updates on our work and educate children about the importance of water and how to save it. We support students from primary school upwards, promoting careers in STEM and helping young people develop employability skills. Over the past year, we’ve reached more than 31,000 students through virtual, blended, and face-to-face programmes. Our education team will be engaging with near-by schools to provide updates regarding our works and educate children on the importance of water as well as water savings tips.
