What is sewer flooding

When sewer pipes are blocked, wastewater can back up through toilets or washing machines, or overflow from manholes into gardens, roads or into the environment.  Often carrying toilet paper and human waste.

Most sewer flooding is caused by wipes, fats, and other unflushables that belong in the bin.  Clogging the pipes, which is made worse by heavy rainfall that overwhelms the network. By making small changes at home you can help reduce the risk
